Plantar Fasciitis Treatment Romsey
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis, plantar heel pain, policeman’s heel is one of the most common causes of foot pain and is a regular patient problem that we see at NK Active. Typically, it will present with pain along the inside of the heel when you get up first thing in the morning, or after a period of sitting down, and is rather painful but then eases once you have been walking around for a few minutes.Â
The plantar fascia is unique, and most of its properties are like a tendon. Did you know that it plays a pivotal role in helping us to push ourselves forward with our big toes? It is also common to have more than one issue occurring at once. Quite often we will see people in clinic with presenting with plantar fasciitis, some bony oedema, and fat pad irritation, all occurring in the same foot at the same time. The good news is that plantar fasciitis is very treatable. As with everything that we do, we start with an initial consultation and examination, so that we can check if you are actually suffering with plantar fasciitis or if it is something else. We would then recommend a bespoke treatment plan suitable for you. This might include shockwave therapy, footwear advice, taping the foot, foot orthoses, or going through a Move Forward plan, our structured strength and exercise programme.
There is a lot of information on the Internet around plantar fasciitis. This is why we have developed our own course at NK Active, covering everything about plantar fasciitis including what it is, how to see if you have got plantar fasciitis, and then plenty of home treatment options. We also have several detailed blogs going into much more detail around plantar fasciitis.
