Big NK Active news as we welcome our newest member of the team; David Rigg!
David will be joining us from Tuesday 02nd March as our new Sports Rehabilitator and his appointment means that we can offer injury and rehabilitation services to those with upper limb issues too.
Meet David
Having trained with Special Forces, Commando and Airborne Regiments, David has first hand experience of fitness training in all environments from jungle to the arctic and deserts.
Following his own injury he transferred to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps where he developed a special interest in injury and exercise rehabilitation and he became more interested in the scientific and academic processes involved in rehabilitation and the return to activity.
David completed the service rehabilitation course at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court and studied at St Mary’s University College, gaining an Honours Degree in Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation.
After leaving the army he joined a private company where he delivered a biopsychosocial treatment model using a cognitive behavioural approach (CBT) in an occupational health role to provide exercise rehabilitation services for major organisations.
He also worked on the NHS Condition Management Program providing exercise interventions for people on incapacity benefit.
David says: “I found that training in Sports Rehabilitation and particularly the psychological aspects of injury and recovery allows me to connect with people to achieve their goals. When I am not at work I enjoy cycling and have a horse to look after, I am also a bit of a food lover!”
David and NK Active
Using ground-breaking rehab techniques, his experience will make him an invaluable member of the NK Active team, as he has also worked extensively with companies to help reduce sickness leave caused by MSK (Musculoskeletal) injury.
Clinical Director at NK Active, Nick Knight says: “It’s brilliant to have David on board with us. We are really proud of the holistic approach that we offer to all patients who come to us with injuries and having David on the team further cements that forward thinking proactive style that our patients have come to expect at our clinics.”
