Is Peloton good for you? Dr Abbie Brooks and Nick discuss

For the latest episode of the NK Active podcast we wanted to discuss whether Peloton is good for you or not. And as a self confessed Peloton addict Nick decided to interview fellow Peloton enthusiast Dr Abbie Brooks to have a discussion about how Peloton, combined with consistency and exercise, is really positive for overall health and well-being.

Who is Doctor Abbie Brooks?

Abbie Brooks, based in York, qualified as a GP nine years ago and over the past fourteen years [ including her time training] has seen the face of general practice changing massively. And while she sees and understands the benefits of exercise for physical health reasons, Abbie massively recognises the mental health benefits of exercise especially as the stress of her job increases and changes.

So why Peloton?

In terms of convenience Peloton is the ultimate activity. As a tool its brilliant for getting stuck into exercise without having to leave home, without impacting other people in your household, without being a struggle when you’re trying to fit exercise around things like young families and commitments…

From Nicks point of view he has seen his fitness improve massively. From looking at what he was outputting when he first got his bike two years ago to what he is outputting now, it’s just about having that consistency. It’s a really really good tools to help improve someone’s health. And although Peloton isn’t going to be for everyone there will be a type of exercise that everyone can do.

This is a great episode that explores lots about finding the right exercise that suits you and your personal style and need. It was brilliant to get Abbie’s perspective on this as well as to hear her own insights on Peloton and how it has benefited her and her lifestyle.
