In this episode we discuss verruca treatment and our latest verruca tech in clinic- SWIFT.

What is the best verruca treatment? | Is it Swift verruca treatment?

This week on the NK Active podcast we are talking everything there is to know about verrucas and verruca treatment. So what is a verruca? Quite simply it is a change in the skin due to a virus. You can have multiple strains as the virus manipulates and changes over time.

Although commonly associated with feet  you can absolutely get verrucas elsewhere on your body..on the hands, the elbows, the knees etc, although they are referred to as warts. When its on the foot it is referred to as a verruca. Having them on the planter aspect of the soles of our feet, can be uncomfortable because sometimes callus can build up as well as the lesion itself.

Do verrucas alway need treating?

Sometimes the best advice is just leave it alone. If they are not causing you pain and discomfort then really they may not be a problem. Stats suggest that at any one time at least 10% of the population will be living with a verruca.

Is verruca treatment actually worth it? Because there are some treatments that can be uncomfortable and there are some treatments that can cause further damage to the skin. So you’re like, well, if it’s not causing any issues,

Our advice tends to be, if it’s not painful, doesn’t affect you, then just leave it alone. Can they resolve on their own? Yes, they can. For some people this could be days, for others this could be years before it resolves itself though.

So what if your verruca does need treatment?

Throughout the episode Charlie and Nick discuss why some people are more susceptible to verrucas than others as well as some simple over the counter remedies for dealing with them at home as well as the brand new tech that we now have here at the NK Active clinic called SWIFT.

What is SWIFT?

SWIFT creates a thermal response within the tissues and the cells then start to vibrate. This then registers with the immune system. When we look at the evidence and when we speak to other clinicians who also use it, they are reporting a similar, if not slightly better success rate  compared to needling techniques in clinic. There is absolutely no anaesthetic needed, there are not dressings required and has zero impact on your daily life after treatment.
